Accelerating a Hypersonic CO2 Reaction Solver

A 2-D unstructured finite volume method (FVM) based framework is developed using an automatic code generation approach based on the symbolic Python package SymPy. The generated solver is capable of simulating flows in both Perfect gas and CO2 rich Martian environments.

Design and Analysis of Heat Sink
Designer October 2020 - December 2020

Designed and analysed a 2-D heat sink made of Aluminium and a layer of epoxy between the chip and heat sink with specified thermal properties as a thermal design solution for cooling a noval chip using CFD-HT (Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer) software ANSYS Fluent.

Sub-Sonic Wind tunnel

Designed and built a subsonic wind tunnel, which is capable of achieving air speeds close to 30m/s in the test section with expected low intensity turbulence level, making it available for research in areas such as low speed aerodynamics, etc.

Publications

A 2-D unstructured finite volume method (FVM) based framework is developed using an automatic code generation approach based on the symbolic Python package SymPy. The generated solver is capable of simulating flows in both Perfect gas and CO2 rich Martian environments. The generated solver is auto parallelized by the OP2 framework and it is capable of running on single/multi core CPU’s using OpenMP and Nvidia GPU’s using CUDA architecture.

  • Integrated Explainable AI (XAI) tools and leveraged interpretability into machine learning and deep learning tools used for space weather research in collaboration with NSF / NASA.
  • Incorporated XAI tools LIME, SHAP, PDP and ALE plots into a transformer-based framework “SolarFlareNet”, used to forecast whether a M-class flare occures within 24, 48 & 72 hours using SHARP parameters.
  • Submitted a poster paper for the 37th International FLAIRS Conference.
